Holiday Checklist

  • Important Documents

Through our partnership with Trip Plans, you can enjoy a seamless, paperless travel experience. In addition to providing offline access to your documents when signal is poor, the app keeps you organised with real-time flight updates and automated notifications for any schedule changes. You can also use the app to view interactive maps of your destinations and store all your confirmation vouchers in one secure place. It’s the ultimate travel companion, ensuring every detail of your Tailormade Escape is accessible even without a data connection.

Simply click on the mobile app link on the itinerary Tailormade Escapes shared with you.

  • Passport

Please check your passport's expiry and issue dates immediately upon booking. Most destinations require at least six months of validity remaining from your departure date. For the most accurate information, visit the official government website below.

Simply select your destination and then click on "Entry requirements" to find specific details on passport validity, visa rules, and mandatory forms.

  • Travel Insurance

To ensure you’re fully protected throughout your journey, we strongly recommend that all customers secure comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Please ensure your policy remains valid for the entirety of your trip, from the moment you depart until your return home.

It is essential to check that your coverage includes all planned excursions and activities, such as water sports, hiking, or winter sports, to avoid any unexpected costs.

While Tailormade Escapes does not partner with a specific provider, we advise visiting the official government site for guidance on what a high-quality policy should cover.

  • Online Check In

Online check-in opening times vary significantly between airlines, with some budget carriers allowing you to check in as early as 30 days in advance, while many full-service airlines open their window 24 hours before your flight.

By checking in as soon as the window opens, you can secure your preferred seats and avoid last-minute rushes at the airport. Below are the typical online check-in opening times for major airlines flying from the UK:

    Budget & Short-Haul Carriers

    EasyJet: 30 days before departure

    Jet2: 28 days before departure

Ryanair: 24 hours before (or 60 days with a paid seat)

Wizz Air: 24 hours before (or 30 days with a paid seat)

TUI: 48 hours before (or 14 days with a paid seat)

    Full-Service & Long-Haul Carriers

British Airways: 24 hours before departure

Virgin Atlantic: 24 hours before departure

    Emirates: 48 hours before departure

Qatar Airways: 48 hours before departure (24 hours for flights to/from the US)

Etihad Airways: 30 hours before departure

    Qantas: 24 hours before departure

Aer Lingus: 48 hours before (European flights) / 24 hours (Transatlantic)

KLM: 30 hours before (24 hours for US flights)

Pro Tip: If you’re checking in on your mobile, make sure to save your boarding pass to your digital wallet or take a screenshot so it’s available even without a data connection. If you’d like us to take care of this for you, simply contact your Tailormade Escapes consultant and we’ll manage your check-in as part of our service.

Beat the morning queues with Twilight Bag Drop. This service allows you to check in your luggage at the airport the evening before you fly, so you can head straight to security on the day of travel.

Many major airlines offer this complimentary service between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM:

British Airways: Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City.

Jet2: Most UK bases including Manchester, Birmingham, and Stansted.

    TUI: Gatwick, Manchester, and Birmingham.

    Virgin Atlantic: Heathrow and Manchester.

    EasyJet: Gatwick, Bristol, and Manchester.

Pro Tip: All passengers must usually be present with their passports to drop off bags. If you’re staying at an airport hotel, this is the perfect way to streamline your morning.

  • Financial

To ensure your holiday remains stress-free, we recommend notifying your bank of your travel dates and flagging which cards you intend to use abroad to prevent any security blocks. It is also wise to research which of your cards offer the best rates for international purchases and cash withdrawals to avoid any surprise transaction fees.

For peace of mind, we suggest carrying a small amount of local currency for immediate needs or emergencies, then planning the rest of your holiday spending accordingly. Please note that while we strive to assist with your travel arrangements, Tailormade Escapes cannot and does not offer financial advice.
